About

Steve's humble beginning at Northwestern
Michigan Research Station.

Steve on the air during WTCM's Farm and Orchard
Show (Traverse City). He was a weekly guest for over 25 years.
L&S Tree Health Care Service and Nursery was started by Steve and Lisa Fouch in the spring, 2003. Steve retired after 32 years with Michigan State University as a professional Horticulturist on November 1, 2011.
L&S offers fruit
trees and small fruit plants to home gardeners and hobby fruit growers.
L&S also offers larger numbers of trees to
individuals and groups interested in improving wildlife habitat.
Steve also scheduled workshops related to the selection, planting, and
care of fruit plants and trees.
Starting in 2005, a tree service division was added in response to the
increasing damage caused by Emerald Ash Borer and other landscape tree
problems. L&S is a licensed business through the Michigan
Department of Agriculture, certified to treat for pests and diseases of
all landscape trees.
L&S still offers potted and bare root fruit trees, along with most types of small fruits such as; blueberries, grapes, raspberries, and strawberries. One of the new and exciting small fruits that we offer is the Saskatoon berry. While with Michigan State University, Steve was responsible for the introduction of Saskatoons in Northern Michigan. Saskatoons, Amelanchier alnifolia, commonly known as June berries and service berries.
